Nashville Tone Internationalのオーナーである、片田智子は1998年にナッシュビルに渡り、ナッシュビルでコーディネイト業をしていた(故) 四方敬士 氏と知り合い、ナッシュビルのいろいろなミュージシャン達と交流が始まる。特に、歌手Jonell Mosserとは会ってすぐ意気投合し、JonellのステージにバックコーラスとしてThe Bluebird Cafe や3rd and lindsley などの数々の有名な場所やトップミュージシャン達とステージに出るようになった。その数年後2005年に再度ナッシュビルに戻り、その間も数々のステージにコーラスとして出ていたり, (故）四方敬士氏の元でミューッジックビジネスを修行したり、2007年には　SAE Institute Nashville （Audio engineer科 ）を卒業する（日本人初の卒業生）。PAなどライブサウンドのインターンもこなしエンジニアやスタジオなどの知り合いも増える。2008年春に一時帰国し、再度ナッシュビルに戻ろうとしていた矢先、ナッシュビルから恩師　四方敬士氏、急死の訃報が届く。恩師の死はナッシュビルと日本の交流に大きな穴を残し、その後も,(故) 四方敬士のたずさわっていたミュージシャン達との交流を現在に至るまで私が続けている。Nashville Tone Internationalが設立されたのはこのためです。

Tomoko Katada first visited Nashville in 1998, where when she quickly fell for the fabled Southern hospitality and began interacting with folks from all avenues of the music industry. At least two of these acquaintances would go on to become friends and mentor to Tomoko: Nashville’s own staple Singer/songwriter, Jonell Mosser, and a Japanese fellow, Keishi Shikata, a one-man bridge connecting the Nashville music scene and sounds to eager Japanese ears.

In the years that followed, Tomoko studied audio engineering from Nashville’s SAE Institute -becoming the first Japanese graduate (2007) and sang back-up chorus for Jonell Mosser on iconic stages such as 3rd and Lindsey, and the Bluebird Cafe. She also fostered a strong friendship and apprencticeship with Mr. Shikata, who showed her the ins-and-outs of the music business. While visiting Japan in 2008, her mentor Keishi Shikata passed away. Tomoko was devastated, but Mr. Shikata’s death also left a Nashville-sized hole in Japan.

Ms. Katada is intent on building on his decade-long relationships, as well as cultivating new ones. It is why Nashville Tone International was created.
